1. Educational Qualifications

3. Mandatory Medical & Physical Standards

Airmen must be physically robust to handle the demanding conditions of defense service.

  • Height: Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms.
  • Chest: Minimum chest circumference should be 77 cm, and the chest expansion must be at least 05 cm.
  • Hearing: Must have normal hearing (able to hear a forced whisper from 6 meters).
  • Dental: Should have healthy gums, a good set of teeth, and a minimum of 14 dental points.
  • Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are strictly prohibited (with minor exceptions for inner forearms and tribal customs as decided by the Selection Centre).

Salary, Allowances, and Service Benefits

  • Agniveervayu Salary (Under Agnipath Scheme): Candidates will receive a customized monthly package of Rs. 30,000/- (with annual increments).   • Airmen Group ‘Y’ (Medical Assistant) Pay Scale: During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month is paid. Upon successful completion, the starting gross emolument (including Military Service Pay) is Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness Allowance (DA).

Rigorous Selection Process

The IAF recruitment process is highly competitive and is divided into several rigorous stages designed to test mental acuity, physical endurance, and adaptability.

Stage 1: Phase-I Online Examination (CBT)

For Group ‘Y’, the test is 45 minutes long, comprising English (as per the 10+2 CBSE syllabus) and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA). A penalty of 0.25 marks is deducted for every wrong answer. Stage 2: Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
