📄 Additional Notification Details & Guidelines

The Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog (HPRCA), Hamirpur, has released Advertisement No. 14/2026 for the scheme-based engagement of teachers in schools run under the Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh. The advertisement is dated 2 November 2026 and covers teacher posts in 15 subjects for CBSE-affiliated government schools and other government schools across the state, as per departmental requirement.

There are 2,423 posts in total. That figure is the sum of the 15 subject-wise totals printed in the notice: the notice itself prints no grand total and states that the number of posts is tentative and may increase or decrease, with vacancies and reservation liable to change without notice. Candidates should therefore treat the subject-wise figures below as the advertised position and check the official notice before applying.

One important condition runs through the whole advertisement. This is not a regular government appointment. The engagement is scheme-based and temporary, for five years, and it is not against any sanctioned post. Teachers engaged under this scheme have no right of regularisation against vacant sanctioned posts of the Education Department, and service rules and pension rules do not apply. The pay is a fixed honorarium, not a regular pay scale, and no allowances are listed in the notice.

HPRCA Teacher Vacancy Details 2026

The 15 subjects and their advertised posts are as follows. English and Mathematics teachers are engaged under the Sub-Scheme for Professional English and Mathematics Teachers, notified on 19 January 2026, while the other 13 subjects fall under the Scheme for Teachers in CBSE-affiliated Government Schools, notified on 1 April 2026.

Category-wise, the notice distributes the posts among General, EWS, SC, OBC, ST and Ward of Freedom Fighter sub-quotas, with BPL sub-quotas inside several categories. For example, English Teacher has 72 General, 24 EWS, 37 SC, 30 OBC and 7 ST posts along with smaller WFF and BPL shares, while Mathematics Teacher, the largest subject, has 108 General, 36 EWS, 56 SC, 46 OBC and 10 ST posts with similar smaller shares. Candidates should read their own subject row in the official notice carefully, because the category break-up differs for every subject.

Flag: one small discrepancy has been noticed in secondary summaries of the notice. For Teacher (Economics), the printed category figures add up to one more than the row’s printed total of 156. The post total of 156 has been used here, and candidates in that subject should verify their category row in the official PDF.

HPRCA Teacher Application Fee 2026

The application fee is Rs. 800 for all categories, made up of a Rs. 100 examination fee plus a Rs. 700 processing fee. No category gets a fee exemption in this notice. The fee must be paid online only, through credit card, debit card or net banking; no other mode is accepted. The fee is not refunded and cannot be carried to any other examination. Candidates from reserved categories of states other than Himachal Pradesh are treated as General and get no fee concession. The correction window carries a separate fee of Rs. 100.

HPRCA Teacher Age Limit 2026

The age limit is 18 to 45 years as on 1 January 2026. The notice, as summarised from the official text, prints no category-wise age relaxation, so 45 years is the limit for all candidates as printed. Candidates should work out their exact age on 1 January 2026, not on the day they apply. Age and qualification are judged on different dates: age on 1 January 2026, qualification on the closing date, 5 December 2026.

HPRCA Teacher Eligibility 2026

Every qualification must be held by the closing date, 5 December 2026. For most subjects, the requirement is a Master’s degree in the subject with 50% marks, a B.Ed. with 50% marks, and a Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) pass, along with proficiency in teaching Hindi and English. The TET must be from the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, Dharamshala, or another agency authorised by the Government.

English and Mathematics have a more detailed pattern. Candidates need an M.A. or M.Sc. in the subject with 50% marks at graduation level, a B.Ed. (including integrated B.A.B.Ed., B.Com.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed. routes) with the subject as a compulsory subject, at least 55% marks in the subject at graduation level, and a TET pass. For SC, ST and OBC candidates, the graduation and B.Ed. requirement is 45% and the subject requirement at graduation is 50%.

For Hindi, Political Science, History and Sanskrit, the requirement is a Master’s degree in the subject with 50% aggregate, a B.Ed. with 50% marks, a TET pass, and proficiency in teaching Hindi and English. Economics accepts a Master’s in Economics, Applied Economics or Business Economics. Physics accepts Physics, Electronics or Nuclear Physics. Chemistry accepts Chemistry or Biochemistry. Biology accepts Botany, Zoology, Life Science, Microbiology, Bio-Technology, Molecular Biology or Plant Physiology, provided Botany and Zoology were studied at graduation. Commerce accepts Accountancy, Financial Accountancy and Income Tax, or Master of Finance and Control. Music requires a Master’s in Vocal or Instrumental music with 50% aggregate, a B.Ed. with 50% and TET. Computer has several routes, each with 50% aggregate, including B.E. or B.Tech. in Computer Science or IT, M.Sc. Computer Science or MCA, or a PG degree in Mathematics or Physics plus a PG Diploma in Computer Science or Applications, or DOEACC “B” or “C” level. Physical Education follows NCTE norms, including B.P.Ed. routes followed by M.P.Ed. or M.A. Physical Education of at least two years. Fine Arts requires a Master’s in Fine Arts or Visual Arts with 50%, or 10+2 plus a five-year full-time or seven-year part-time Diploma in Fine Art or Painting with 50%.

Except for English and Mathematics, SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates of Himachal Pradesh get up to 5% relaxation in minimum marks. Candidates must have passed Matriculation and 10+2 from a school or institution within Himachal Pradesh, unless they are Bonafide Himachalis. Any working experience counts only if gained after the basic qualification. Candidates must register on the One Time Registration (OTR) portal before filling the Online Recruitment Application (ORA). Reserved category candidates of states other than Himachal Pradesh are treated as General, without reservation or fee concession. SC, ST and OBC certificates must be on a parental basis, failing which the candidature is rejected, and OBC, BPL and EWS certificates must be valid on the closing date and at verification.

HPRCA Teacher Salary 2026

The notice gives a fixed honorarium of Rs. 30,000 per month, payable for 10 months in an academic year, which works out to Rs. 3,00,000 over those 10 months. There is no pay scale and no allowances are listed. Because the engagement is scheme-based and temporary, candidates should read the scheme terms in the official notice before applying and should not compare this honorarium with a regular government teacher’s salary.

HPRCA Teacher Selection Process and Exam Pattern 2026

Selection is through a written screening test followed by document verification. The written test is a Computer Based Test, or an OMR-based test where the number of candidates is limited. The pattern is 120 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each, for a total of 120 marks, in 1 hour 30 minutes or as decided by the Aayog. The syllabus covers the candidate’s subject up to the level of their qualification, plus General Knowledge including Himachal Pradesh, Current Affairs, Everyday Science, Logical Reasoning, Social Science, and Matric-level English and Hindi.

The minimum qualifying marks are 45% for the General category and 40% for SC, ST, OBC and Wards of Freedom Fighters. If too few candidates qualify, the Aayog may lower the bar by up to 5%, recording reasons in writing. Where the test is held in multiple shifts, scores are normalised using the Z-Score method. A provisional answer key will be published, with seven days for objections at Rs. 200 per challenge, non-refundable. There is no rechecking or re-evaluation of answer scripts. Candidates shortlisted for document verification are allocated posts on a Merit-cum-Option-cum-Availability basis, giving their department and district preferences in writing at verification. A category-wise waiting list remains valid for one year from the date of sending the recommendation, but it gives no right to appointment.
