UPPSC RO ARO Recruitment 2026: 501 Vacancies

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), Prayagraj, has opened online applications for the Samiksha Adhikari / Sahayak Samiksha Adhikari Etc. Examination 2026, better known as the UPPSC RO/ARO exam. This recruitment covers Review Officer (RO), Assistant Review Officer (ARO), account posts and a few other posts in the Uttar Pradesh government, including the U.P. Secretariat, the Commission’s own office, the Board of Revenue and the Office of the Advocate General.

A total of 501 vacancies have been announced under Advertisement No. A-4/E-1/2026. Of these, 495 posts are under General Recruitment and 6 posts are under Special Recruitment. The online application window runs from 26 October 2026 to 26 November 2026. Before applying, every candidate must complete One Time Registration (OTR), because the application form is OTR-based.

UPPSC RO/ARO 2026: Vacancy Details

The 501 posts are spread across departments. The broad post-wise split is as follows:

Category-wise, the notified totals are General (UR) 246, OBC 97, EWS 44, SC 108 and ST 6. Horizontal reservations for freedom-fighter dependents, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen, women and outstanding sportspersons sit inside these totals. Vacancies may change if similar posts are added before the preliminary result, as stated in the notification reporting.

UPPSC RO/ARO 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: The base requirement for RO and ARO posts is a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a university established by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government. Post-wise conditions differ, so check your own post before applying:

• Review Officer (general posts): Bachelor’s degree in any stream.
• Assistant Review Officer: Bachelor’s degree, plus an ‘O’ Level certificate (NIELIT/DOEACC or equivalent) and Hindi typing speed of 25 words per minute on computer, where prescribed for the post.
• Account posts: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) with Accountancy, plus the ‘O’ Level certificate where prescribed.

Age Limit (as on 1 July 2026): Minimum 21 years and maximum 40 years. Without relaxation, candidates must have been born between 2 July 1986 and 1 July 2005. Eligible Uttar Pradesh PwD candidates can be up to 55 years old. UPPSC RO/ARO 2026: Application Fee (Preliminary Examination)

Each total includes a Rs. 25 online processing charge. The fee is paid online through the application portal. A separate fee is charged at the main examination stage — check the notification for the mains fee before that stage.

UPPSC RO/ARO 2026: Selection Process

Selection is through a Preliminary Examination (objective type) followed by a Main Written Examination. The final selection is made on the basis of marks in the main examination. Depending on the post, candidates may also have to appear for a typing test, a computer proficiency test, or both, as prescribed in the notification. The preliminary exam date and admit card release date have not been announced yet.
