The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 06/2026 for 1,260 Junior Engineer (Electrical) and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) posts in departments of the Government of NCT of Delhi. The notice (No. F.1(449)/P&P/DSSSB/2026/Advt./5183) is dated 6 November 2026. Applications open on 12 November 2026 at 12 noon and close on 11 December 2026 at 11.59 PM, only on the DSSSB online portal dsssbonline.nic.in.
Of the 1,260 posts, 1,075 are Multi-Tasking Staff under post code 810/26 and 185 are Junior Engineer (Electrical) under post code 809/26. The MTS posts need only a Class 10 pass, which makes this one of the biggest 10th-pass government recruitments in Delhi this year. The Junior Engineer posts need a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering. The form does not open before 12 November, so candidates should use the days before that to confirm which post code they qualify for and to get a clear photograph and signature ready.
One warning from the notice deserves attention before anything else: the vacancy figures are tentative, because they come from the requisitions sent by the indenting departments. The numbers can go up or down, and the Board is not liable to pay compensation if a department reduces its vacancies. The figures used in this post are the ones printed in the advertisement dated 6 November 2026.

DSSSB MTS JE Vacancy Details 2026
| Post | Post Code | Vacancies |
|---|---|---|
| Junior Engineer (Electrical) | 809/26 | 185 |
| Multi-Tasking Staff (General Duty and Aaya Female) | 810/26 | 1,075 |

The category-wise split across all 1,260 posts is 537 Unreserved, 325 OBC, 181 SC, 94 ST and 123 EWS. The 1,075 MTS posts include 239 MTS Aaya (Female) posts, which are for women only.
Most MTS posts sit in one department. The Directorate of Education takes 757 MTS (General Duty) posts and 239 MTS Aaya (Female) posts — together 996 of the 1,075 MTS posts. The remaining 79 MTS posts are spread across smaller departments: Trade and Taxes 26, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board 20, Weights and Measures 19, Land and Building 7, Higher Education 3, Principal Accounts Office 2 and Chief Electoral Officer 2. The qualification, pay and age limit are the same in each of these departments, so for most MTS applicants this is effectively an Education Department recruitment.
The 185 Junior Engineer (Electrical) posts are split across five departments: Delhi Transco 75, New Delhi Municipal Council 67, Municipal Corporation of Delhi 26, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board 14 and Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board 3.
DSSSB MTS JE Recruitment 2026: Important Dates
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Advertisement issued | 6 November 2026 |
| Online applications open | 12 November 2026, 12 noon |
| Last date to apply online | 11 December 2026, 11.59 PM |
| Age, qualification and experience cut-off | 11 December 2026 |
| Exam date | To be announced |
The form is not open before 12 November 2026. Several websites are already showing an apply link, but the portal takes applications only from 12 November. Candidates should apply well before 11 December, because the Board itself warns that the portal slows down in the closing days and no excuse about heavy load is accepted.
Application Fee
The application fee is Rs 100, payable only through SBI e-pay. Women candidates pay nothing, and neither do SC, ST, PwBD and ex-serviceman candidates. The fee is not refunded in any case, so candidates should check their eligibility before paying. Applications go in only online, on dsssbonline.nic.in. The notice is blunt about this: forms sent by post, by hand or by mail are not accepted.
Eligibility: Age Limit and Qualification
For Multi-Tasking Staff, the only qualification is a Class 10 pass from a recognised board. No experience is asked for. The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 11 December 2026, with relaxation for reserved categories under the rules. The pay is Level 1, Rs 18,000 to Rs 56,900 a month.
For Junior Engineer (Electrical), the qualification is a degree in Electrical Engineering, or a diploma in Electrical Engineering with two years of professional experience — though the exact wording changes a little from one department to the next. Delhi Transco accepts a degree or a diploma with no experience condition, while the Agricultural Marketing Board asks for a diploma plus two years in electrical installation and maintenance work. Candidates should read the entry for their own department before applying, because the headline rule does not cover every case.
The age limit for Junior Engineer also differs by department. The New Delhi Municipal Council allows 18 to 32 years, while the other four departments cap the age at 27 years. The pay is not the same in each department either. Delhi Transco pays Level 8, Rs 52,000 to Rs 1,51,100 a month, the highest of the five. NDMC, MCD and DUSIB pay Level 6, Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400. The Agricultural Marketing Board pays the old scale of Rs 9,300 to Rs 34,800 plus a grade pay of Rs 4,200. Same post code, same examination, three different pay packets — the department a candidate picks decides what they earn, so the preference order matters for Junior Engineer in a way it does not for MTS.
Department Preference and the E-Dossier Rule
The notice says candidates must pick at least one department or post preference when they submit their e-dossier, and once confirmed it cannot be changed. If a department later finds a candidate ineligible for the post they picked, the candidature for that post code is rejected and no other department is offered. Candidates should therefore check the eligibility for each department they list, even though the headline qualification looks the same everywhere. For Junior Engineer, the department also decides the pay scale and the age limit, so the preference order should be chosen with care.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Junior Engineer candidates face two tiers. Tier I runs for two hours, with 200 questions for 200 marks: 100 on general awareness, reasoning, arithmetic, Hindi and English, and 100 on the electrical subject. Tier II also runs for two hours, with 150 questions for 200 marks, all on the subject. Tier I only shortlists candidates for Tier II, and the Tier II marks make the final merit list.
MTS candidates face a single tier: 200 questions in two hours for 200 marks, split into five sections of 40 marks each, covering general awareness, reasoning, arithmetic, Hindi and English. The questions are bilingual in Hindi and English, except the language papers.
Wrong answers cost marks in both papers: 0.25 marks off for each wrong answer on a one-mark question, and 0.50 off on a two-mark question. The minimum qualifying marks are 40 percent for General and EWS candidates, 35 percent for OBC (Delhi) candidates and 30 percent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Ex-servicemen get a 5 percent relaxation in their own category, subject to a minimum of 30 percent. The exam date has not been announced yet. DSSSB says it will come only through the Board website.
Photo and Signature Rules
The notice asks for a recent, clear colour photograph with a plain white or off-white background, full face and front view, eyes open. Applications with a blurred or illegible photograph or signature are rejected. Candidates should keep the same printed photo ready too, because the Board asks for it whenever they are called.
