Application Fee

Candidates in the UR, EWS and OBC (NCL) categories must pay a non-refundable amount of Rs 854 — Rs 500 towards the application fee plus Rs 354 (inclusive of 18% GST) towards the processing fee — through the SBI e-Collect facility. Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen categories are exempted from the application fee, but they must pay the non-refundable processing fee of Rs 354 (inclusive of 18% GST). The fee does not include service charges or any other charges the bank may levy, and the amount paid is not refunded in any circumstances.

Eligibility: Qualification, GATE Score and Age Limit

Candidates should have qualified in the GATE 2025 examination in the relevant GATE code. Only GATE 2025 marks are valid for this recruitment — scores from GATE 2026 are not accepted. The educational qualification is a full-time or part-time Bachelor’s degree in the discipline: Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Production Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Power Engineering (EE), Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering (CE), and Mining Engineering (MN). Any other qualification regarded as equivalent, or a combination of branches other than the notified one, will not be considered.

The minimum qualifying percentage of marks in the notified qualification is 60% for UR, EWS and OBC (NCL) candidates and 50% for SC and ST candidates. Where only grades (GPA, CGPA or CQPI) are awarded, they are converted to the exact equivalent percentage — on a 10-point scale, a GPA/CGPA/CQPI of 6.0 is considered as 60%. Rounding of percentage is not acceptable. Candidates should have passed the notified qualification as on the crucial date, which is 1 November 2026 — the first of the month in which the notification was issued. The crucial date also applies to claims of SC, ST, OBC (NCL) or EWS status and to all other benefits, including the upper age limit and fee concession.

The upper age limit as on 1 November 2026 is 30 years for UR and EWS, 33 years for OBC (NCL), and 35 years for SC and ST candidates. Relaxation is 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and 10 years for persons with benchmark disabilities (13 years for PwBD-OBC and 15 years for PwBD-SC/ST). For ex-servicemen, relaxation is as per Government of India guidelines. In all cases of relaxation, the maximum age limit is 58 years as on the crucial date.

Salary, Training and Service Bond

Candidates joining NLCIL as Graduate Executive Trainees will undergo training for one year. During training, GETs are paid a basic pay of Rs 50,000 per month, plus applicable Dearness Allowance and a Common Allowance of 35% of basic pay. The scale of pay is E-2, Rs 50,000 – 1,60,000, with an approximate CTC of Rs 14.50 lakh per annum. In addition to the CTC, Performance Related Pay (annually), medical treatment for self and dependents, and group insurance are provided as per the rules, and eligible residential accommodation (unfurnished) is provided at standard rent in company townships, subject to availability.

On successful completion of training, trainees are absorbed in the E-3 grade, in the scale of Rs 60,000 – 1,80,000 with a basic pay of Rs 60,000 per month, plus Performance Related Pay annually and a superannuation benefit of 30% of basic pay plus DA. Selected candidates must execute a service agreement bond for Rs 3,00,000 to serve the company for a minimum of three years after completion of training. Selected candidates cannot seek or apply for a transfer to any other plant, unit or office during the initial period of three years from the date of joining.

Selection Process: GATE Score and Interview

Selection is based on the GATE 2025 score (80 marks) followed by a Personal Interview (20 marks). Applicants who have qualified GATE 2025 and meet the eligibility criteria are shortlisted for the personal interview in the ratio of 1:6 (or 1:10, as the case may be) against the notified vacancies, based on the merit order of marks out of 100 scored in GATE 2025, ensuring due reservation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and PwBD candidates. Shortlisting for each area is independent, and an area-wise merit list of shortlisted candidates is prepared separately.

The final selection is in the order of merit based on the total marks scored out of 100 — the sum of the GATE 2025 score (80 marks) and the Personal Interview (20 marks) — ensuring due reservation. In case of a tie at the cut-off level, it is resolved first by the date of birth (the senior-most candidate placed higher) and then by the alphabetical order of the first name. On successful completion of document and certificate verification and the interview, an offer of appointment is issued to selected candidates who meet the notified qualifying norms and are found medically fit. Candidates attending the personal interview are eligible for reimbursement of travelling expenses (II class sleeper train or bus fare for the E-2 grade) from their communication address to the venue by the shortest route, on production of ticket proof.

How to Apply for NLC GET Recruitment 2026

Candidates can apply online by following these steps:

  1. Check eligibility: a Bachelor’s degree in the notified discipline with 60% marks (UR/EWS/OBC-NCL) or 50% (SC/ST), and a valid GATE 2025 score in the relevant code (ME, EE, CE or MN).
  2. Register only once on the NLCIL website, nlcindia.in, using the GATE 2025 registration number, name, e-mail ID and mobile number. Keep the mobile number and e-mail ID active for the entire selection process, since NLCIL sends all communications only through SMS and e-mail.

The selected area cannot be altered after submission. Multiple registrations or applications in multiple areas are not permitted; if a candidate submits multiple applications, only the latest one is considered.
  4. Fill personal data, educational qualification, age, category and other details in the online application portal, and upload the required scanned copies of documents and certificates in the prescribed format.
  5. Pay the fee online through the SBI e-Collect facility — Rs 854 for UR/EWS/OBC (NCL), or Rs 354 processing fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen — by 14 December 2026 at 11.45 PM.
  6. Submit the application by 14 December 2026 at 5.00 PM (final submission for already-registered candidates by 16 December 2026 at 5.00 PM). Take a printout of the registration-cum-application form and produce it with self-attested copies of certificates and documents at the time of document verification, along with the originals.

Documents required at the time of application and document verification include proof of date of birth, Aadhaar card, SSLC and HSC mark sheets and certificates, provisional or final degree certificate(s), consolidated or semester-wise mark sheets of the degree, the GATE 2025 scorecard, and the category, PwBD or ex-servicemen certificate in the prescribed format. Candidates from State PSEs, Central PSEs, Government or Quasi-Government organisations should produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of document verification. Queries can be e-mailed to help.recruitment@nlcindia.in. No manual or paper applications are entertained, and candidates should not send any hard copy to the office.
