📄 Additional Notification Details & Guidelines

The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department has released the detailed notifications for the District Selection Committee (AP DSC) 2026 recruitment, opening the door to 2,721 teacher posts across government schools, local body schools, special education institutions and residential educational societies in the state. The three detailed notifications came out on Thursday, 5 November 2026, and the online application window will run from 11 November to 30 November 2026 through the official portal tet2dsc.apcfss.in.

This is one of the biggest teacher recruitment drives in Andhra Pradesh this year, and it matters for a very large number of aspirants because it covers almost every teaching stream in one go — School Assistants, Secondary Grade Teachers, special education teachers, Post Graduate Teachers, Trained Graduate Teachers, Principals, Physical Directors and Physical Education Teachers. Candidates who have been waiting since the brief notification of 13 October 2026 finally have confirmed dates, a confirmed fee and a confirmed examination schedule. The computer-based test will be held between 20 December 2026 and 13 January 2027.

Before applying, every candidate should read the information bulletin for the post they are targeting, because the three notifications carry separate eligibility conditions, district-wise vacancies and reservation provisions. The department has also said that the detailed post-wise vacancy list and the online application user guide will be available from 11 November, the day applications open. This post brings together everything that has been verified so far from the detailed notifications and the official portal, and it clearly marks the few points where sources still differ or where the bulletin has to be checked.

AP DSC 2026 Vacancy Details

The 2,721 vacancies are spread across three notifications. The regular teacher notification covers 2,111 School Assistant and Secondary Grade Teacher posts — 1,709 of them in government, Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad schools, and 402 in municipal and municipal corporation schools. The special education notification covers 350 posts — 150 School Assistant posts and 200 Secondary Grade Teacher posts. The third notification, for residential schools and educational societies, covers 260 posts of Principals, Post Graduate Teachers, Trained Graduate Teachers, Physical Directors and Physical Education Teachers across AP Model Schools, residential educational societies and schools under the department concerned with the welfare of persons with disabilities.

StreamPosts
Regular School Assistants and Secondary Grade Teachers (government, Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad and municipal schools)2,111
Special Education — School Assistant150
Special Education — Secondary Grade Teacher200
Residential schools and societies — Principal, PGT, TGT, Physical Director, PET260
Total2,721

Within the regular stream, the School Assistant figure reported for this cycle is 906 posts, which leaves 1,205 Secondary Grade Teacher posts by subtraction from the notified regular total of 2,111. The special education stream adds 150 School Assistants and 200 Secondary Grade Teachers, so the overall totals work out to 1,056 School Assistants and 1,405 Secondary Grade Teachers, plus the 260 society posts — and those three figures add up exactly to 2,721. Candidates should note that the Secondary Grade Teacher figure of 1,205 for the regular stream is derived in this way from the notified totals, and the district-wise and subject-wise break-up is to be confirmed from the detailed vacancy list that the department will publish on 11 November.

The Post Graduate Teacher stream within the society notification accounts for 81 posts, notified under Notification No. 01/Mega DSC-TRC-1/2026. The remaining society posts cover Principals, Trained Graduate Teachers, Physical Directors and Physical Education Teachers. As with the regular stream, the exact post-wise and district-wise split for the society notification should be checked in the information bulletin before applying, because these figures are tentative until the department publishes the full list.

The examination schedule is tentative, and the department has described the computer-based test window as running from 20 December 2026 to 13 January 2027. Candidates should watch the official portal for the final hall ticket and the session-wise schedule, because the test will be held in multiple sessions across those dates. The mock test facility opening on 5 December is a useful chance to get familiar with the computer-based format before the real examination.

AP DSC 2026 Application Fee

Candidates must pay an application fee of Rs. 1,000 per post, according to reports of the detailed notification released on 5 November 2026. The fee is charged separately for each post applied for, so a candidate applying for two posts would pay for each one.

Please read this carefully, because there is a conflict in the reports. Several reports published before the detailed notification — based on the brief notification and the earlier DSC cycle — quoted a fee of Rs. 750 per post, and some of them also mentioned fee exemptions for BC, SC and ST candidates of Andhra Pradesh, physically handicapped candidates, ex-servicemen and unemployed applicants in the 18 to 44 age group. The reports of the 5 November detailed notification, however, state Rs. 1,000 per post. Until the information bulletin is read in full, candidates should treat Rs. 1,000 per post as the figure from the latest notification and confirm the exact fee and any exemption in the bulletin itself before paying. Do not rely on the older Rs. 750 figure.

AP DSC 2026 Age Limit

Applicants must be between 18 and 44 years of age as on 1 July 2026. The upper age limit is relaxed to 49 years for SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates, and to 54 years for candidates with benchmark disabilities, subject to the prescribed rules. The age is calculated as on 1 July 2026, so candidates should check their date of birth against that cut-off date rather than the application date.

AP DSC 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility differs by post, and the information bulletin for each post is the final authority. The conditions reported for the main posts are as follows.

Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT)

Candidates need Intermediate or Senior Secondary (10+2) with a minimum of 50 per cent marks — 45 per cent for SC, ST, BC and differently abled candidates — along with a two-year D.El.Ed or a four-year B.El.Ed. They must also have qualified in the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET), CTET or TSTET Paper-I.

School Assistant (SA)

Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject along with a B.Ed, and a valid AP TET or CTET score where the notification asks for it. The subject-wise requirements vary, so candidates should match their degree subject and B.Ed methodology with the post they are applying for.

Post Graduate Teacher (PGT)

Candidates need a post-graduation in the concerned subject with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate, along with a B.Ed in the concerned subject recognised by the NCTE, or an equivalent degree with the relevant methodology from a UGC-recognised university. A two-year integrated post-graduate course from a Regional Institute of Education of NCERT is also accepted.

Physical Director and Physical Education Teacher

Candidates need a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university along with the prescribed physical education qualification. A Teacher Eligibility Test qualification is not required for Physical Director and Physical Education Teacher posts.

For the Teacher Eligibility Test, the qualifying marks reported are 60 per cent for open category candidates, 50 per cent for BC candidates and 40 per cent for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Candidates should verify these cut-offs in the information bulletin, because the bulletin for each post is the final word on eligibility.

AP DSC 2026 Selection Process

Selection is based on the Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) score, with weightage given to the TET score, followed by certificate verification. Reports of this cycle state that 20 per cent weightage is given to the candidate’s score in CTET or AP TET, with the remaining weightage coming from the TRT. After the written test, shortlisted candidates are called for document and certificate verification before the final merit list is prepared.

The detailed examination pattern — the number of questions, the marks for each section, the duration of each paper and whether there is negative marking — is given in the information bulletin and has not been separately confirmed in the reports checked for this post. Candidates should not assume the pattern from the previous DSC cycle, because the bulletin for this cycle is the only reliable source for it. What is confirmed is that the test is computer-based, that a mock test will be available from 5 December 2026, and that the initial answer key will be released on the second day after the last examination, with seven days allowed for raising objections.

AP DSC 2026 Salary

The pay scale for the advertised posts has not been confirmed in the reports of the detailed notification checked for this post, so no salary figure is stated here. Teacher posts in Andhra Pradesh government schools are paid under the state government pay scales applicable to each cadre, and the exact scale for each post should be confirmed from the information bulletin. Candidates should not rely on salary figures quoted in older reports for a different cycle.
