State Bank of India has opened applications for 60 Specialist Cadre Officer posts in its security cadre. Advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28, dated 4 November 2026, invites applications for Manager (Security) in MMGS-III and Deputy Manager (Security) in MMGS-II on a regular basis, with online registration and fee payment running from 4 November 2026 to 25 November 2026 on the SBI careers website. This is a specialist recruitment, not a general banking recruitment: it is open only to graduates who have served as commissioned officers in the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force, or as officers in para-military forces, for the prescribed years, and who hold medical fitness in SHAPE-1 or an equivalent category.
Selected officers may be posted anywhere in India, and the Bank reserves the right to transfer them to any of its offices or depute them to associates or subsidiaries. The probation period is six months. Because the eligibility turns on rank, length of commissioned service and medical category rather than on a general degree alone, candidates should check those three conditions against their own service record first, before looking at the pay scale or the exam pattern.
SBI Security Officer Vacancy Details 2026
SBI has advertised 60 vacancies jointly for Manager (Security) and Deputy Manager (Security). The notice does not split the 60 vacancies between the two posts, and the total is provisional — it may vary according to the Bank’s actual requirement. The category-wise break-up of the 60 posts is as follows.
| Category | Posts |
|---|---|
| SC | 9 |
| ST | 4 |
| OBC | 16 |
| EWS | 6 |
| UR | 25 |
| Total | 60 |
Reservation follows the prevailing Government of India guidelines. OBC vacancies are only for OBC candidates in the non-creamy layer; OBC candidates in the creamy layer should indicate their category as UR. EWS candidates who do not hold the Income and Asset Certificate for the relevant financial year should apply under UR only. Reserved category candidates for whom no reservation is mentioned may apply against UR vacancies if they meet all UR eligibility criteria.

Transaction charges, if any, are borne by the candidate. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances and will not be adjusted against any other examination or selection process.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Selection comprises an online written test followed by a personal interview. The online test is objective, with 200 questions for 200 marks in two hours, and there is no penalty for wrong answers. The pattern is as follows.
| Test | Questions | Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning Ability (qualifying) | 50 | 25 | 30 minutes |
| English Language (qualifying) | 50 | 50 | 30 minutes |
| General Awareness (qualifying) | 50 | 25 | 25 minutes |
| Professional Knowledge | 50 | 100 | 35 minutes |
| Total | 200 | 200 | Two hours |
Reasoning Ability, English Language and General Awareness are qualifying in nature; their marks are not counted for merit, but candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks in these papers, as decided by the Bank. Based on performance in the online written test, a category-wise adequate number of candidates, as decided by the Bank and depending on the number of vacancies, will be called for the interview. The interview carries 100 marks, and its qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank.
For the merit list, marks in the online written test (Professional Knowledge) and the interview are normalised to 100 marks: the written test counts for 70 and the interview for 30. A category-wise merit list is drawn in descending order of the normalised score. Where more than one candidate scores the cut-off marks, they are ranked by age in descending order. The Bank reserves the right to change or modify the mode of selection, or to select through shortlisting and interview.
