Vacancy Details
The 1,270 posts include 793 posts available as on 31 August 2026 and 450 anticipated posts up to 28 February 2027, spread across unreserved, EWS, SC, BC/OBC, freedom fighter, sportsman, PwBD and ex-servicemen categories. Sportsman, PwBD and ex-servicemen reservations are horizontal, drawn from within the vertical categories rather than added on top. Reservation benefits are available only to bonafide residents of Punjab; candidates from other states are treated as unreserved.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree from a recognised university, must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as one of the subjects, and must have proficiency in computer operation. This Punjabi condition is mandatory and has no alternative. All qualifications must be complete on or before the closing date, 4 November 2026. The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum is 37 years as on 1 January 2026, with relaxation of 5 years for SC and BC/OBC candidates of Punjab, 10 years for PwBD candidates of Punjab, and service period plus 3 years for ex-servicemen of Punjab. In-service employees of Punjab, Haryana, Central Government, High Court, Subordinate Courts or UT Chandigarh can apply up to 45 years.

The fee includes online facilitation charges of Rs. 550 plus the examination fee, is paid online only, and is non-refundable.
Selection Process
Selection starts with a 100-mark Computer Based Test of 2 hours: General Knowledge (50 objective questions), English Composition objective (20 questions) and English Composition subjective (30 marks: essay, letter, precis and Punjabi-to-English translation). Candidates need 33% in each subject and 40% in aggregate to qualify. Qualified candidates then appear for a mandatory qualifying Computer Proficiency Test (spreadsheet test plus English typing at 30 words per minute), followed by checking of original testimonials. The final merit list is prepared strictly on written examination marks.
