The application deadline has been extended: following an Allahabad High Court order dated 24 October 2026 and a Secondary Education Department letter dated 27 October 2026, the last date to apply and pay the fee is now 4 November 2026, and the written examination will still be held on 3 and 4 December 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
For the Urban post, applicants need a graduation degree from a university established by law in India (or an equivalent government-recognised degree), plus a recognised teacher-training qualification — Basic Teacher Certificate (BTC), BTC (Urdu), Special BTC, a two-year Diploma in Special Education approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India, a four-year B.El.Ed. degree, or a two-year D.El.Ed. under NCTE Regulations 2002 — and must have qualified the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the State Government or Government of India. The 28 October 2026 extension notice added two qualifications as eligible: the two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India and the four-year B.El.Ed. degree. For the Sambaddh Primary post, applicants need a graduation degree plus BTC or D.El.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised course and a TET pass for Classes 1 to 5. The BTC course is currently run under the name D.El.Ed.
The age limit as on 1 July 2026 is 21 to 40 years for the Urban post, with 5 years’ relaxation for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Uttar Pradesh, 15 years for PwBD candidates of Uttar Pradesh, and service period plus 3 years for ex-servicemen; Shiksha Mitras can apply up to 60 years. For the Sambaddh Primary post the minimum age is 21 years and the superannuation age is 62 years.

Selection Process
Selection is through the written examination scheduled for 3 and 4 December 2026, followed by document verification as per the notification. Candidates should complete OTR registration first, then fill the application for Advertisement No. 05/2026 on upessc.up.gov.in.
