The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is conducting the fourth phase of the School Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) for 33,320 school teacher posts under the Education Department, Government of Bihar. The application window opened on 25 September 2026 and has been extended: the fee can now be paid till 2 November 2026 and the online form can be submitted till 3 November 2026, under the extension notice for Advertisement No. 15/2026, following the Supreme Court order dated 1 August 2025 in the Raman Kumar Mandal case. The recruitment covers teachers for Classes 1 to 12 in Bihar government schools.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility depends on the teaching level and subject, and candidates must be permanent residents of Bihar for reservation benefits. Primary teachers (Classes 1 to 5) need Senior Secondary with the prescribed marks plus D.El.Ed. or B.El.Ed. and CTET Paper I or BTET Paper I. Middle school teachers (Classes 6 to 8) need graduation with D.El.Ed., B.Ed., B.A.Ed. or B.Sc.Ed. and CTET Paper II or BTET Paper II. Secondary teachers (Classes 9 to 10) need graduation or post-graduation in the concerned subject with the prescribed marks plus B.Ed. and STET Paper I. Higher secondary teachers (Classes 11 to 12) need post-graduation in the concerned subject with the prescribed marks plus B.Ed. and STET Paper II. Candidates who have completed teacher training but are awaiting STET 2026 results may apply, though their main examination admit card will be released only once STET qualification is confirmed.

The minimum age as on 1 August 2026 is 18 years for primary and middle school teachers and 21 years for secondary and higher secondary teachers. The maximum age is 37 years for unreserved male candidates, 40 years for unreserved female, BC and EBC candidates, and 42 years for SC, ST and transgender candidates, with further relaxation as per Bihar Government and BPSC rules.

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 100 for all categories, paid online. The fee payment deadline is 2 November 2026, one day before the form submission deadline.

Selection Process

Selection is through the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) written examination, followed by document verification as per the notification. The minimum qualifying marks reported for the written examination are 40 percent for General, 36.5 percent for BC, 34 percent for EBC, and 32 percent for SC, ST, women and PwD candidates. Candidates should confirm the exam scheme from the official BPSC notification before applying.
