Exam Instructions & Details

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the admit cards for the rescheduled Junior Engineer (JE) Computer Based Test (CBT-1) examination under Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 04/2026. The rescheduled examination will be held on 2 November 2026, and the revised e-call letters have been available for download from 30 October 2026 through the regional RRB portals. Candidates affected by the postponement should download the fresh admit card now, because the earlier admit card for the postponed sitting does not apply to the rescheduled date.

Read the scope of this release carefully before downloading. This admit card is NOT a general fresh release for all JE candidates. The main JE CBT-1 examination was already held on 27 and 28 October 2026. This rescheduled release covers only those candidates whose examination on 28 October 2026 at selected centres in Andhra Pradesh could not be held as scheduled because of the impact of Cyclonic Storm Arnab. The affected centres named in the coverage are in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Vijayawada. If your examination was held on 27 or 28 October 2026 as scheduled, this release does not apply to you, and you should not download a second admit card in its place.

Vacancy note: the figure of 4,029 vacancies for JE, DMS and CMA posts under CEN 04/2026 is the figure reported in the admit-card coverage checked. Candidates should confirm the post-wise vacancy position from the CEN 04/2026 notification itself, since this post is about the rescheduled admit card and not a fresh vacancy announcement.

Why the Exam Was Rescheduled

The Railway Recruitment Boards postponed the JE CBT-1 examination scheduled for 28 October 2026 at selected centres in Andhra Pradesh because of the impact of Cyclonic Storm Arnab, which affected Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Vijayawada. In an official notice dated 27 October 2026, the Boards stated that the affected candidates could download the city intimation slip and the e-admit card for the rescheduled examination with effect from 30 October 2026, and that the affected candidates would also be informed through SMS and email. Candidates in the affected centres should therefore check both the portal and their registered mobile number and email address, but the portal remains the authoritative source: an SMS alone does not replace the admit card itself.

The rescheduled examination on 2 November 2026 is a continuation of the same CBT-1 stage, not a new recruitment. The syllabus, pattern and qualifying conditions of CBT-1 remain those of CEN 04/2026, and candidates should prepare on that basis rather than expecting a different paper for the rescheduled sitting.

The exact examination centre, shift, reporting time and gate-closing time are printed on each candidate’s own e-call letter, and they can differ between candidates. Candidates must follow the details on their own admit card, not the details reported by another candidate from a different centre or shift. The main CBT-1 was conducted in three shifts each day, but shift allocation for the rescheduled sitting is whatever the fresh e-call letter states.

How to Download the Rescheduled Admit Card

  1. Visit the official website of your regional Railway Recruitment Board, or the central RRB portal at rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and open the CEN 04/2026 section.
  2. Find the link for the JE CBT-1 e-call letter for the rescheduled 2 November 2026 examination.
  3. Log in using your registration number and password or date of birth, as asked by the portal.
  4. Open and download the e-call letter in PDF format.
  5. Check your name, photograph, examination date (2 November 2026), centre address, shift, reporting time and gate-closing time on the admit card.
  6. Take at least two clear printouts of the admit card and keep a digital copy as backup.
  7. If any detail on the admit card is wrong, or if the download link does not appear for you, contact your regional RRB through the helpdesk given on its website without delay, since the examination is on 2 November 2026.

Candidates should not use a third-party download link or a forwarded admit-card file. The e-call letter is issued against individual login credentials on the official RRB examination portal, and only the copy downloaded from that portal is valid at the centre.

Documents to Carry and Exam-Day Instructions

On 2 November 2026, candidates must carry a printed copy of the rescheduled e-call letter and an original valid photo identity proof, as specified on the admit card. Candidates should also carry a passport-size photograph, since centres commonly require it for verification against the admit card photograph. The admit card itself contains the examination centre address, shift timing, reporting time and gate-closing time, and candidates must reach the centre before the gate closes; late entry is not permitted once the gate has closed, whatever the reason for the delay.

At the centre, candidates must follow the instructions printed on the admit card and given by the invigilators, including the rules on permitted and prohibited items, biometric verification and rough-work procedure. Electronic devices, study material and any item barred by the admit card instructions must not be carried into the examination hall. Candidates should keep their registration details safe after the examination as well, because the same credentials are used for later stages and for downloading the scorecard.

What Happens After CBT-1

The selection process for the JE, DMS and CMA posts under CEN 04/2026 comprises CBT-1, CBT-2, document verification and a medical examination. Candidates who qualify in CBT-1 will be shortlisted for CBT-2 as per the CEN 04/2026 rules, and the schedule for CBT-2 will be announced by the Boards separately. The rescheduled 2 November 2026 sitting feeds into the same CBT-1 result process as the 27 and 28 October sittings, so affected candidates are not placed in a separate recruitment track.

Candidates should keep checking their regional RRB website for the CBT-1 answer key, result and CBT-2 schedule, and should not treat any unofficial answer key or cut-off circulating on social media as the official result.

No deep login link is reproduced here, because the e-call letter is downloaded only after login on the official examination portal. Candidates should reach the download through their regional RRB website or rrb.indianrailways.gov.in and log in with their own credentials.
