Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold any one of the following qualifications, acquired on or before the last date of submission of online applications:
- A three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a government-recognised institute, or
- A Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Indian university, or
- AMIE Section A and B (India) in Mechanical Engineering, as prescribed in the notification.
Domicile Requirement
Only domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are eligible. A valid Domicile Certificate in the prescribed format, issued by the competent authority on or before 15 December 2026, is required.

The fee must be paid online through net banking, credit card or debit card. The application fee is non-refundable.
Salary
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-6, with a pay scale of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month, plus allowances as per J&K Government rules.
Selection Process
Selection will be based only on merit in a written examination, followed by document verification. There is no interview.
- Written Examination: Objective-type multiple-choice questions, set in English only, conducted in OMR-based offline mode.
- Negative Marking: One-fourth of the marks assigned to each question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates proving their eligibility.
The examination date, syllabus and exam centres will be notified separately on jkssb.nic.in.
