UPESSC Principal Eligibility Criteria 2026
Applicants must satisfy all three conditions given below:
- Educational Qualification: A postgraduate degree with at least 50% marks from a university established by law in India, a deemed university, or an institution recognised by the government.
- Professional Qualification: A B.Ed. degree from a course recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
- Experience: At least 4 years of teaching experience as a Lecturer or Assistant Teacher in Classes 9 to 12 in an institution recognised by the Central or State Government, OR at least 4 years of experience as a Headmaster of a High School. The experience must be supported by a certificate issued by the competent authority.
UPESSC Principal Age Limit 2026
The age limit is calculated as on 1 July 2026:
- Minimum Age: 30 years
- Maximum Age: 62 years
A candidate whose age exceeds 62 years as on 1 July 2026 is not eligible. Candidates should confirm the age-relaxation rules, if any, from the official notification itself, since reporting on this point differs.

In case of a tie, the reported order is: written examination marks, then interview marks, then postgraduate percentage, then B.Ed. percentage, and finally the older candidate.
